How Does This Work?

Using Drop-In Math Support

So, how does this whole drop-in/live/async math help work? Here are the three steps to getting your math questions answered whenever you need.

1. You send your question to me any time

Gather relevant images of your math problem. If your problem is on a worksheet or in a textbook, just snap a quick picture of the whole page. If it’s online, just take a screenshot. Great things to include in your picture(s):

  • The instructions for the problem
  • Any charts, diagrams, or graphs (even if they’re blank because you’re supposed to complete them)
  • Optionally, send me a picture of any work you’ve already done related to this problem
    • This helps me understand where you’re at and tailor my answer and notes.
    • Did you start the problem and get stuck, or get the wrong answer? That’s okay, send me that work.
    • Did you do a similar problem? Send me that work.
    • Do you have notes about this type of problem from class? Send me those.
    • I’ll never share your work on stream without your permission

What is your question about this math problem? Maybe it’s just I’m not sure how to do it? That’s understandable. But, if you have a more specific question, like how to deal with fractions or how to graph a specific equation, let me know.
Submit your question along with your images to my question submission form or email me directly (ryan@thecalculustutor.com).

2. I answer your question during the next live stream

I’ll work through the problem and answer your question. You are invited to tune in live and ask clarifying and follow-up questions in chat.

Don’t worry if you can’t tune in live, because…

3. I email you links to my answer to your question

After my stream, I’ll email you links to the specific timestamp in the stream-recorded VOD and the specific place in the online notes where I answer your question.

This allows you to still receive as-needed, drop-in math help asynchronously.

It’s as simple as that. You send your question, I respond on stream, then send you links to my response and notes that you can access anytime.

Try it out, see if it helps you feel more confident in math.
